Description

Amoxicillin is a highly potent, broad spectrum antibiotic .Amoxicillin is very similar to penicillin in its bactericidal action against susceptible bacteria during stage of active multiplication. It acts through inhibition of cell wall biosynthesis that leads to death of the bacteria.Amoxicillin is active against both Gram positive and Gram negative microorganisms.

PBPs are involved in the final steps of bacterial cell wall synthesis, and when they are inhibited, the bacteria are unable to build and maintain a strong cell wall. As a result, the bacteria become more susceptible to damage and death by the immune system or other antibiotics.

Amoxicillin is effective against a wide range of bacterial infections, including those caused by Streptococcus pneumoniae, Haemophilus influenzae, and Escherichia coli, among others. It is typically administered orally in the form of capsules or tablets, and it is absorbed into the bloodstream where it can reach the site of infection and begin fighting the bacteria.
